General Information
Reading
We love reading at St. Peter's and look to foster that same love of reading in our children and families. To help your child learn to love reading, we ask that children are heard reading at home four times a week to help them build fluency and comprehension, as well as to develop a better understanding of the world! Children's books will be monitored throughout the week and changed on Fridays. Please make sure reading records are signed and books are brought to school every day.
Homework
Children receive homework every Friday to be collected the following Wednesday. They will receive Maths, and English homework weekly.
PE
Dahl class has PE lessons on Mondays and Fridays. Please ensure your child comes into school in their PE kit on these days. For the safety of our children during PE days, we kindly request that you ensure earrings are removed before they come to school. This is essential for their well-being.

Extra Information
Year 1 children will complete a Phonics Screening Check in June 2024. This is a reportable assessment of their phonetic understanding. The phonics workshop presentation that was delivered in school in the Autumn term is available online if you wish to know more about how we prepare children for this assessment.
